140 visitors at 'Soil Survey in Practice'

About 140 visitors were our guest at the 'Soil Survey in Practice Days'. We cooperated with CSO environmental consultancy and ALcontrol Laboratories to give our clientele and a number of students the chance to take a look behind the screens of soil survey.

On the first day, 28 may, we welcomed about 90 students. The second day, 29 may, about 50 of our clients used the opportunity to get acquainted with soil survey in practice.
At the premises of ALcontrol Laboratories in Hoogvliet, near Rotterdam, the visitors got step by step demonstrations of all aspects of soil survey. Sialtech presented two mechanical drilling rigs and demonstrated sonic and direct push drilling techniques. ALcontrol Laboratories conducted tours through the laboratories to show the ins and outs of analyses. CSO gave presentations on the consultancy as a result of survey and analyses.

Students and clients were impressed. ,,It was interesting not only to see drilling techniques, but also to follow the processing of a survey. I had never imagined this to be so a tightly scheduled'', said one of the students. At Alcontrol Laboratories about 2000 environmental analyses are carried out each day.  ,,It was also very interesting to see that some boring are used not only for environmental purposes, but also for archaeological research'', said one client.
